Tickets to Manwolves first show in LA sold out quickly. Rightly so, because they put on a hell of a show. But the night of the show it became even more clear why they sold out so quickly. They were playing in what was essentially a studio apartment just east of downtown LA. The rugged, DIY nature of the "venue" with a sketchy back-alley entrance was slightly disconcerting, but as soon as Manwolves took the stage all previous concerns were obliterated. Manwolves picked up the first lines of "Roses", and instantly the fans' anxious anticipation exploded into palpable excitement. Their raucous beats and sulky lyrics formed a solid backdrop for the intense moshing that broke out in the center of the room. When paired with their characteristic trumpet melodies and the harmonious guitar and key chords there was nothing left to be desired. The video shown of Manwolves playing one of their hits "Runnin'" here provides a glimpse of the awesome performance. Other highlights included one of their first songs released "You" which they spiced up with a different upbeat ending, and their encore "Sauce" which they poured all remaining energy into. Their performance in that tiny venue left no doubt in my mind that they'll be back in LA for a bigger show soon, and we recommend you get your tickets quickly.
